The plot to murder ayurveda surfaces again. Part - 1
The plot to murder ayurveda
surfaces again. Part - 1
The team that wants to
allopathize ayurveda is back with a bang. Led by the same Kishore Patwardhan
they have reached the British Medical Journal (BMJ) this time with the backing
of a strong allopathic lobby that earlier publicized them through the Indian
Journal of Medical Ethics. Patwardhan is by no means an ayurvedic scholar. He
has not understood ayurveda.
The group led by Patwardhan
has already laid bare its intentions. It is not focused on results. It is
focused on changing the process such that the convenient way can be introduced.
By saying that ayurveda is
"steeped in tradition" this movement clearly wants to make ayurveda
"scientific". Now what is wrong with that? I would like to point out
the fallacy; the scientific and evidence based medicine that has caught this
group's fancy has rendered the whole world irreversibly sick and is the third
largest killer as per official statistics; the first if all factors are
considered.
It has also corrupted
humanity that is reflected in the chaos that has engulfed the world. Every mind
has been rendered a criminal mind, including that of the physician. This is how
the system has corrupted itself to the core.
There is urgent need to look
beyond the current faulty paradigm and look at what ayurvedic philosophy has to
offer.
Ayurveda looks at the
elements; space, air, fire, water, and earth. These constitute everything that
is manifested. These elements have qualities that enable all objects to appear,
retain their form, perform their functions, and disintegrate and disappear when
the objective is fulfilled. These qualities (of the elements) are the focus of
ayurveda.
Ayurveda looks at the
qualities of the mind; dullness, activity, and calm and composedness. It
details how these states of mind holds or disturbs the body as these mental
states are channeling their own energies through the vast energy body that
exists within and extends outside (as the aura) the physical body that is
behind all processes.
Ayurveda looks at the life
force that is gifted to all life forms. This is beyond genetics as here the
intelligent energy is being referred. The blueprint of life does not rest in
matter but in a form of invisible energy. When this life form leaves (it is
indestructible) we witness complete cessation of activity that is termed death.
Then the life force within microorganisms takes over to decompose the body and
revert to the original elements.
Ayurveda looks at the source
of it all. It comes from a vastness that cannot be comprehended. It is
completely detached, has no wish or need, and pervades everything.
But somehow (this part is
beyond all argument, nobody has really found the answer though the seeking is
global) that vastness wishes to manifest. From it emerges the golden egg or
hiranyagarbha. This is the cumulative potential energy. From this potential
emerges the kinetic force in the form of space, air, fire, water and earth.
Everything in this world is but various compositions of these elements.
For ayurveda everything is
mind and energy. It looks at health from this angle. This science requires a
very calm and meditative mind to which dawns intuitive knowledge. To that mind
nature reveals itself. Therefore the adage, physician heal thyself. Unless the
physician is perfectly healthy in body and mind, she or he will find it very
difficult to unravel the intricacies of ayurveda.
This is observed in many of
the tribal practitioners who are completely dependent on their intuition for
treatment. This is what shamanism is about. The shaman connects to the
universal mind and obtains solutions.
This is why the genuine
ayurveds and all traditional forms of healing respect life and life forms.
Through the manifested world they have a glimpse of what is behind it all. This
is why the ayurveds say, jaha pinde taha brahmande; that is, the microcosm
reflects the macrocosm. The entire universe moves according to the same laws.
The worst crime ever possible is to go against and disturb these laws.
If you disturb the human
being you disturb the whole world. Are we not witnessing it currently? The
world has currently lost all sanity and vicious crimes have become commonplace.
I will be very blunt in my
assessment of the current call for making ayurveda scientific;
- These practitioners want to practice the most convenient system of medicine that is allopathy. Just club symptoms into a disease name and devise a protocol of drugging regardless of the impact on health and wellbeing
- They want to eliminate symptoms and pretend it is a cure, the easiest path ever
- They want to prescribe allopathic drugs with all the attendant benefits
- They want to bask in the glory that allopaths enjoy
- They want a share of the medical pie
- They want the protection provided to allopaths
- They have absolutely no regard for the human being, or for that matter the life forms
To this the modern doctors
add another reason. They know that allopathy is no longer tenable. The boat has
sunk. If they can allopathize ayurveda they can rule again for some time. They
can also further distort the science to their hearts content.
I really don't understand
why the Patwardhan group have to publicize their demands. The ayurveds desiring
to follow this path are already doing it. Maybe what they want is legitimacy.
