Is it selfish to seek self realization?

Is it selfish to seek self realization?

India has always respected those who travel the spiritual path. This is partly because Indians have traditionally sought to travel the path themselves. Those who find themselves engaged in secular work therefore help those who choose the spiritual hoping that this will one day clear their own path.

But there is a deeper meaning to it. A self realized person is a blessing to the whole world. It is like a opening in overhanging dark clouds through which sunlight seeps through and the darkness disappears. The whole world is benefitted from such a person.

Western civilizations worship those who strive for worldly success. But Indians worship Saints and Sages. They travel long distances to meet the enlightened; though they may be paupers in the worldly sense.

People from all over the world travelled to meet giants like Ramana Maharshi and Nisargadutta Maharaj. Swami Vivekananda and Swami Yogananda lit the fire in the hearts of all irrespective of their nationality.

Are there realized souls today? There are many souls that are destined to emerge to tackle the crisis that is set to engulf the country.
