Why will Odisha attract so much destruction?

The coming times will witness great destruction in Odisha.

  • Floods, cyclones, tsunami
  • Mass deaths due to diseases that will leave just two to three people per village
  • Famine that will decimate populations
  • Wars and riots that will ravage the towns
  • Attack on the Jagannath Temple and the town of Puri
  • Destruction of the Hirakud dam leading to 6 districts being wiped out
  • There is talk of extremely high winds that will destroy hills and mountains. It looks like some kind of powerful bombing will set off the winds. Nuclear/ hydrogen bombs have that capability
  • A Comet falling on the Bay of Bengal will destroy all the coastal districts
  • An earthquake that will flatten cities

The people of Odisha remain sanguine that Lord Jagannath will protect them, like a father protects his children.

The question therefore arises, why should the State that holds Lord Jagannath in high esteem suffer so much?

A father has children that are good and bad. If a wayward child behaves badly it is no surprise. But if the favorite child becomes wayward the father is angered and comes down heavily on it.

The people of Odisha have undergone a sea change in the last 50 years. The simple and straightforward population has copied the ways of the world. The majority have lost their spiritual instincts.

The town of Puri itself has changed drastically. The pilgrim town was the prime attraction of sincere devotees from all over the world. The town and its surrounding reverberated around the year with various activities that engaged them.

The Sea at Puri was the subject of intense devotion. Known as Mahododhi, it is the favorite bathing spot of the devoted. It is the residence of Indra, the father in law of Lord Jagannath. It also ferried the logs that helped build the idols of the Holy Trio.

The ocean was further sanctified when Lord Chaitanya bathed the body of Saint Haridas in it. And then he himself had embraced it drowned in intense spiritual ecstasy.

Puri now is a tourist spot with all the trappings that go with it. The ocean and beach are a source of entertainment. There is a free flow of rich food and wine to cater to the tourist population.

It is the beach that is the prime attraction today, the Jagannath Temple reduced to a sightseeing activity for many.

When prime pilgrim spots become diluted and corrupted, they tend to invite destruction. Powerful hints of such destruction have already been provided by the Holy Trio and the Temple.

The region of Puri is intensely Holy and is ever present in every large cycle. It will go down in Kali Yuga to emerge again in the next cycle to attract people who can benefit from its spiritual potential.
